Now is the best time to maintain and test you air conditioning unit. If you like, you can easily test the performance of your central air conditioning unit your self. The first thing you need to do is change your air filter. Restrictive air flow can damage the unit and also, will prevent you from getting accurate test results. Next, tape a thermometer to the air supply vent that is closest to the unit. Let the unit run for 10 minutes, and record the temperature. Then, tape a thermometer in the same exact way to the air return vent, that is closest  to the unit, let the unit run for the same time, and record the temperature. If there is less than a twenty degree difference, you should consider calling a reputable repair service. It may be a small issue at the time, but if you let it go, the issue will get worse, and needless to say it will break down when you need it the most, so don't wait.
